On the 4th of October, it is going to be the last time I will start a new semester and for the sake of it, I have decided to give myself some extra time and carefully prepare for it. Cleaning my phone and my closet, starting a new bullet journal, and making sure everything is in order for the new semester might make you feel accomplished and not overwhelmed after a full week at university.
If you want more ideas of what to do before the start of a new semester you can check out this post that I wrote a while ago.
Decluttered my phone
This is the first thing that I actually had to do because it constantly reminded me that I am out of space. I’ve deleted old apps, photos and videos then rearranged some apps on my home screen.
I then deleted any old notes that I didn’t need anymore, sorted through the new ones, and cleaned my iCloud drive.
Decluttered my laptop and made folders for all my classes
I had a lot of old university-related books and files on my laptop and it was time to make room for the new things that I will have to download so I basically deleted almost everything in it. I mainly use my laptop for uni and so I didn’t have a lot to declutter but if you are using yours for everything make sure you have the space for your new university or school year.
The next thing that I did was to make a folder for every class that I am going to have this semester. This way it will be easier to put the new pdfs and courses in the dedicated folder.
Cleaned my room and my closet
I clean my room every weekend but I felt like this time it needed a more in-depth clean, so besides the usual dusting, vacuuming, and mopping I rearranged my books, got some new sheets, and cleaned the “university drawer”.
As the weather started to change and the temperatures are pretty low now, I gave my wardrobe a makeover and made sure my fall and winter clothes are more reachable now.
Set up my planner
I actually have a whole post about my new bullet journal so if you want to read more about this, please check out this post.
Did my nails
Since the pandemic started I started to do my nails with semipermanent nail polish at home so I do them every 2-3 weeks (let me know if you want a tutorial on this). This process takes me about an hour so I usually prefer to do it on a weekend because I have more time and no one bothers me. As my first day at uni is on Monday, this was a much-needed step I had to complete.
Had an in-depth skincare routine, scrubbed and shaved my body
My face was in need of a pampering day so I decided to do this on the weekend as well. Besides applying a deep cleaning mask and using my Foreo UFO for more hydration I also took care of my body. I applied a scrub that I got as a gift from Sephora, made sure I shaved the remaining hair I had (it’s way less now after completing the IPL treatment with my Philips Lumea IPL), and moisturized my body after. This way I am set for the new week and everything is smooth and smells nice.
Ironed my medical suit
This might sound silly, but if you are a medical student do this on Sunday so you will not have to worry about it on Monday morning. I iron them, put them on hangers and I’m good to go for the rest of the week.
