2024 has been filled with many changes, health scares, fatigue, and both difficult and happy times. Ending this year in an organized way is one of my main goals for these two months. From decluttering my devices and home, to planning for the upcoming year, all of those are important for starting 2025 better.
So how am I going to do this? First, I’ve started deleting all the apps that I am not using on my phone. This also comes with freeing up some space so a win is a win. Another thing that is related to technology is to delete all sorts of unnecessary screenshots, and old files from my laptop, and also clean up my Google Drive. I like to make folders for different categories and at almost every end of the year, I go through every folder and delete everything that I no longer need.
As we are still talking about cleaning our devices, I am also going through my GoodNotes app. I am using the app with a planner not only for everyday tasks but also for my work appointments so I really need it to be clean.
Next on the list is going through my notifications. I often feel overstimulated by having my phone and Apple Watch lighten up several times a day with notifications that aren’t that important so I plan to adjust my setting for every app that still remains on my phone.
Another important thing that I advise everyone to do is unsubscribe from emails. I really hate a cluttered inbox and this year I let myself go and ended up with more advertising emails than I wanted to.
Last but not least on the list is – planning my budget. At the beginning of this year, I started to put some money aside for different categories but ended up spending it on silly things. I then got good at saving them, and then spending them so, to end this vicious cycle I created my own budget spreadsheet. Already started using it actually as I really needed to put some money aside for Christmas presents but I am really planning on writing down all my expenses in 2025.
Along with planning my budget in a spreadsheet, I am also using two cash-stuffing binders, to physically save money as I often find that having them in my account makes me a little overspending.
