Starting a new semester can be confusing but it doesn’t have to be. I like to be organized from the start so I know exactly what to expect later.
That is why I have decided to share with you 5 ways I use to stay on top of things as a 4th-year dental student!
PIN ME FOR LATER

FOLDERS FOR EVERY SUBJECT ON MY LAPTOP AND ON MY GOOGLE DRIVE
The first thing I do as soon as I get my timetable is to make folders for all my classes. I do them on my computer first then store them everything related to that course. I then copy all of them into Google Drive as it is my main storage platform for everything related to university.
WRITING MY CLASSES IN MY GOOGLE CALENDAR
I then proceed to write all my classes into my Google Calendar. I write them for every day, at the hour I am supposed to be there, the building, and sometimes the professor’s name and I make them repeat as long as the semester lasts. I also write down every holiday that I might have just to keep me sane haha.
KEEPING A PICTURE OF MY TIMETABLE ON MY PHONE
This one is really useful especially at the beginning when you didn’t memorize all your classes. It keeps you from getting on your university site all the time.
WRITING DOWN EVERYTHING I HAVE TO BUY/NEED FOR MY CLASSES
I usually do this in my notes app on my phone. I have a different folder fo “Uni” and I write there everything I need for my classes. This one helps me to stay organized and to make sure I don’t forget anything. I write everything for the books I need to buy to any other material I need for my labs.
PRINTING EVERYTHING FROM THE START
This is applicable if your professors give you the course in the beginning. It is not the case for most of my classes but for those professors who do, I make sure to print all of them at the beginning so I won’t get too confused at the end, before my exams. If you can, invest in a printer that uses a cartridge because they are cheaper and last longer. They only print in black and white but for me, this is enough. I went for this one because it was really cheap and it does the job amazingly.
