A trip to Skala Sotiros part 2 | Thásos 2018

I have return with a new post from my vacation and this time we talk about one of my favorite subjects. Food.

Before I start with my recommendations I just want to let you know that one thing I’ve noticed here is that in most taverns the food is brought to the table as it’s being ready so don’t expect to get all your group eating at the same time.

Napoleon Tavern (in Skala Sotiros) – besides the fact that the tavern is right on the beach the food is amazing and the portions are very big. I mean except the soup I shared all my meals with my friend. It is also a good idea to order different types of foods and share it between you and your friends/family. The best part is that after you’re done eating you get free ice cream. The prices are like everywhere else and for example for one soup, 2 small bottles of water and one greek salad I payed 14,65€. I do noticed that meat is a little bit more expensive than their traditional dished thing that applies to all the places that I’ve visited.

Porto Prinos (in Skala Prinou)one word to say about it. Excellent Gyros. Ok, that were 2 words but who’s counting. It is own by a woman and her father and the food is delicious. You have to wait a bit for it to be served but it is worth it. One thing that I liked the most about this place is that they have a separate menu with what is fresh in that day so if you have the chance try the ” pork meat with wine and mushroom sauce”. You won’t regret it.

Syrtaki Tavern (in Skala Prinou) – it is near the second one and you will recognize it easily by it’s duck egg colored chairs. I definitely recommend the Greek pizza, the cheese balls and the Saganaki Mussels (made with Feta cheese and tomato sauce)

Molos (in Limenaria) – when you get in front of this restaurant you will be greeted by a few waiters who will let you know that their restaurant is in top 5 restaurants on the island and that their sea fruits are always fresh. They deserve to be in the top as their food is really amazing and tasty and the great part about it is that everyone receives their food at the same time. If you get there around 7 ish o’clock you will enjoy a nice view. One thing you have to check out is that if a table would be available without a reservation. Before this week you would have to make one so we were really lucky to be able to get one.

Souvlike Psitotechneio (in Thásos city) – great to eat out with a group as they have menus with different things that are good for 2-4 persons depending on how much you like to eat haha. The place is very crowded so you might have to wait for a table but the food is very good and very fast.

The Bakery Shop (in Skala Sotiros) – This one, like most of the things on the island is a family business and you have to make sure to check it out at least one time. Sadly we found out about this one at the end of your trip but we made sure to buy some on the road snacks before we left. You have to try the chocolate cake and the spinach and feta pie, as well as their Ayran that works great with a little bit of their bread. Also, make sure to ask for some of their homemade chocolate as it has a great taste. Their others cookies looked amazing so if I’ll ever go back I will, without any guilt, try them all.

Thasos really was an amazing destination to go to. The island is only 100 km so you can easily go around it and visit everything. I am happy you liked my post!
