Life hacks can not only make your life easier but can also get you out of different situations. So, here are 14 life hacks that I think everyone should know.
Let me know what other life hacks do you know that have made your life great in the comments down below.
1. Keep a book to give as a gift for random gift-giving situations.
Pick a neutral book with enough mystery, action, and romance then save it as new for different situations. The random gift exchange situation may be quite rare and it might occur in the early friendship stages or when you don’t know the other person well. By keeping a new book at home, you can make an excuse like “I forget the gift at home but let’s grab it together” and you win: it saves you from an unplanned trip to the bookstore and the other person is more inclined to believe that you actually did buy a gift and didn’t only make an excuse.
2. Keep pills for every situation at home and with you.
I’ve learned this one from my mom since I was a kid and I am carrying this tradition with me still. I always have a small pouch in my bag with 2 pills for almost everything: headache, tummy ache, and so on.
3. Always have a band-aid in your wallet, some floss or an interdental brush, and a pen.
I think this one is pretty self-explanatory haha. You don’t know when you are going to have a piece of food stuck between your teeth or when your favorite shoes will leave you with a blister.
4. Buy mini products for your purse including toothbrush and toothpaste.
It might seem like you are not going to use those at all, but trust me, better to have them around, as you might never know if you will randomly have to spend the night somewhere or have to brush your teeth for a date after just eating some onions haha.
5. Keep a list on your phone with every new thing you learn that is way out of your knowledge and know you might forget later.
If you are like me, and you love to just know things, having such a list on your phone is great especially when it comes to things that are harder to understand at first and that you might want to deepen the knowledge later.
6. Sock soaked in vinegar and water lowers your fever until you get to buy some pills.
This is an old remedy and you have to make sure to not keep the sock for long because they can cause an eruption. Just soak the socks in 2 parts water and 1 part vinegar and put them on your feet for about 10 minutes. It should lower your fever a bit.
7. Keep a list on your phone with everything your friends and family want as gifts (and also their shoe size) to always be prepared for the moment you have to buy them presents.
I’ve been doing this for a long time now. I have a list where I put the names of all the people I buy gifts for (for their birthdays and also Christmas) and during the year I write down everything they say they desire or like. This way, when the times come, I just check the list for ideas.
8. Put the birthdays of your close friends and family into contact details on your phone.
This way, it will show up on your calendar and you will never forget it.
9. Buy Christmas gifts on Black Friday to save a bunch of money.
I’ve started doing this only a couple of years ago but it made me save some good money. If you have an idea of what gifts you want to buy for Christmas, getting them on Black Friday sales is what you need to do. In my country, Black Friday is in November so it’s perfect for buying everything I need to surprise my family and friends.
10. Keep a list of watched tv shows/movies, or read books in your phone notes so you always have a recommendation if someone is asking.
11. Always let your friends or family where you are or plan to go.
My mom is always asking where I am going and it has been a habit of ours to know about each other’s location. Make sure you do the same and always let a member of your family or your friends about where you are going or who are you taking. You never know what might happen and as I always say, better safe than sorry.
12. Pimples don’t go faster if you mess with them.
13. Drink a big glass of regular coke, or a smaller glass of whiskey or rum if your tummy hurts.
It is proven that the substances in coke make your tummy feel better after eating too much or if you are just having problems with it. This applies to alcohol too, so if you are having problems, take a sip or two of whiskey or rum and you will feel better. (make sure you have the legal age for drinking and that you are not taking any antibiotics while drinking)
14. Mint, chamomile, and St. John’s Wort tea help with an upset stomach or after eating too much.
Drink the recommended amount of one of those teas (check their boxes) during the day and your stomach pain or bloating will improve.
