I know this month can be hard in every aspect. You have to buy a lot of presents, you have to buy a lot of food, everything seems more expensive and it sometimes feels like a lot of things have to happen in December.
You don’t have to be overwhelmed though. Start planning in advance to see how you can budget a little and still keep your cool during the holidays.
PLAN YOUR CHRISTMAS PRESENTS
I like to do this task in the last week of November or in the first week of December. Grab a piece of paper, your planner, or your bullet journal, and start writing down all the people that made it on the “Good” list for this Christmas. Then near each name, write what present are you planning to buy along with its price. Look up different discount codes or some great Black Friday deals and place your orders.
In this way, you know exactly what budget you have for presents and how much money is left after all of them are bought.
PLAN YOUR CHRISTMAS DINNER
I know that during these uncertain times, having a big Christmas dinner might not be that safe. If you decided to host a dinner for your close family make sure you make a list of all the things you are planning to buy for it. From new napkins to soda, water or food make sure to write everything down. Think of all the people that are coming and their food preferences so you won’t have to cook extra food that will not be eaten in the end.
PLAN YOUR STUDY SESSIONS
If you are a student like myself and have your exams after the holidays you might wanna make sure that you don’t spend your Christmas day stressing about what you have to learn. What I like to do is after I got all my courses available and all my professors set up the exams I make a list of all the things that I have to know and when I have the exams. I write them all in my bullet journal, print the courses, and set up everything.
I start reading my notes every day until Christmas so I have an idea about what’s going on. Then between Christmas and New Year I revise them and learn some more. I know it’s hard, especially that I am a procrastinator myself, but if you spend a few hours every day studying you will be less stressed later.
Besides planning your Christmas presents, dinner and your study session you should also make a list of everything you have to do this month. From wanting to buy a new jacket, moisturizer or to plan a new short trip you should write all the details and small things down. This way, you can see everything at once, decided on what you want to spend more money on or what you don’t really need.
WATCH WHAT YOU EAT
We all know that we can get overboard when it comes to great delicious food that is basically everywhere this month. To make sure you don’t feel bloated and fatigue every day try to avoid sugars and overeating. Incorporate more soups and green vegetables into your diet, drink a lot of tea and stay hydrated. At Christmas dinner, try to eat small portions of every food so you don’t crave anything and eat more after everyone has left haha.
SELF CARE SESSIONS ONCE A WEEK
Stress can show up on our face in the form of a pimple that we can’t get rid of so having a self-care day once a week might be beneficial for your skin and for your nerves. Put on a face mask, take a hot bath, pour some wine, and listen to your favorite music.
What are ways to stay focused and on top of everything in the month of December?
