Maintaining a skin care routine | A real struggle?

I’ve written in the past about my skin care routine but I have never explained how hard I find sometimes to really maintain it. I am sure I am not the only one and that’s why I’ve decided that today’s post should be exactly about this.

I know that taking care of your skin is one of the most important thing you should do but sometimes I find it hard to keep doing the same thing every morning and night time. I’ll still wash my face and brush my teeth but I will not always use the products that I am supposed to. This happens out of laziness or due to the fact that there are times when I am not feeling myself so I tend to think that taking care of myself would be pointless.

I do think it’s ok if we skip a day or 2 but sometime I skip a whole week and I see the results of that right away on my skin so I really started to think about ways to actually implement this routine into my everyday life.

With that being said, here are a few thing that you, and I, can do to stick to a beauty routine:

  1. Make a check list – you can do this on a piece of paper and stick it on your bathroom mirror then check off things as you do them, or you can use an app like this one to even remind you to do things. I always feel kinda good whenever I check things out so if you are like me, this can help you a lot.
  2. Make it simple –  you don’t have to use a lot of products to maintain a nice looking skin so using a cleanser, a toner and some face cream will do the trick and you will not spend a lot of time in your bathroom.
  3. Start small – let’s say you just starting out and you don’t want to use 10 products right away. Here’s what you can do: in the first week, just wash your face with a cleanser, then, week 2 add some toner or just put a mask on one of the days and so on. Eventually you will get where you want without felling very crowded in the first place
  4. Do you – I know a lot of women that only wash their face with water then use a face cream. It is really important to find what truly works. You don’t have to use 5 products if your skin is doing just well with only 2. (Whatever you chose, make sure to use a face cream with SPF. More about this here)

    For years I didn’t bother at all. It’s only recently that I’ve started and my skin feels so much better for it. But some days it’s hard to stick to it. Great post! Anna x (one half of the cinnamon buns and roses blog)

      I know..some days are extremely hard to keep up with especially when I have to wake up super early for uni😅
